HUDSON THEATRE WORKS believes that there is nothing more important to the long-term vitality of the American theatre as an art form than the nurturing of new voices. PlayWorks is the first step in this process. PlayWorks presents readings of new plays giving the playwright an opportunity to share their work and include the audience in the creative process.

Plays that started life at PlayWorks include Jackson is Gone by Joanne Hoersch, recipient of a New Jersey State Council on the Arts grant for playwrighting; Eric Conger's Beautiful Boy, part of the Walnut Street Theater's 2013-2014 season in Philadelphia;  Stand Up Man by Derek Murphy, presented in Belfast at C21 Theater; and 3 MEN  by Mike Folie, a part of Hudson Theatre Works 2014 season opening on October 17, 2014.

This program is made possible by the City of Weehawken and Mayor Richard Turner and in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State.
