Old Library Theatre to present ‘Monster Makers’ original musical in Fairlawn

monster

Last year, OLT’s Reader’s Theatre brought you the original musical A Dream of Wings – providing patrons with the opportunity to hear an original musical in development and provide feedback to its writer/composer. This year, we’re presenting our second original musical – Stephen Dolginoff’s Monster Makers.

In 1920s Germany, will director F.W. Murnau lose a lawsuit brought by the estate of Bram Stoker over his silent vampire film Nosferatu, which is suspiciously similar to Dracula? In 1930s Hollywood, will make-up man Jack Pierce create the defining look for Frankenstein’s monster, or will the studio impede his efforts? In 1970s England, will actor Peter Cushing be able to finish the final British sequels to Frankenstein and Dracula, or will outside forces get in his way? This musical tells the tale of these three men as they fight for their art against the various “monsters” they must face. As these famous monster-makers discover, sometimes real life can be more frightening than the movies!

-OLT-BW-Logo-Thick21 Monster Makers will be presented in a semi-staged performance in the Teen Room at the Fair Lawn Recreation Center for two performances only:
Saturday, August 29 at 7:00pm
Sunday, August 30 at 2:00pm (including a talk-back with the author/composer!)
All seats only $10!

Direction by Linda Wielkotz. Musical Direction by Evan Tintle Charpentier.
