NJSO to feature Ravel's Bolero



A pair of delightful and familiar works headline this light-hearted program that also shines the spotlight on NJSO Principal Tuba Derek Fenstermacher.

Classical Conversation—before the concert
Enjoy a lively Classical Conversation beginning one hour before all performances. NJSO Director of Artistic Planning Patrick Chamberlain will talk with NJSO Music Director Xian Zhang. Free for ticketholders.

College Night—Fri, Apr 7, after the concert
$10 tickets for college students include the concert and a post-concert party with refreshments and live entertainment. 

Big Carl (a giant tuba)—Fri, Apr 7, before the concert; Sun, Apr 9, before and after the concert
Concertgoers can see, hear and take photos with “Big Carl,” Carl Fischer Music’s gigantic historic tuba at the concerts on April 7 and 9 in the NJPAC lobby. Following Sunday’s concert, soloist Derek Fenstermacher and Steve Dillon, owner of Dillon Music, explain Big Carl’s history before Fenstermacher demonstrates this unique instrument. More info. ATTENTION TUBA PLAYERS: You have a chance to play Big Carl! Come to the concert on April 9 with your mouthpiece, and you’ll be entered into a drawing to play Big Carl yourself! Before the concert, show your mouthpiece at the information table in the lobby and sign up for your chance to be selected to play at the event immediately following the concert.

Non-perishable food items will be accepted at all performances for donation to local food banks.
