Ezra Barnes reports ‘Breakfast with Mugabe’ a Centenary Stage NJ premiere has made its West Coast debut

Breakfast With Mugabe at the Aurora Theatre Company with L. Peter Callender and Dan Hiatt

Friends and Colleagues,

“Breakfast With Mugabe is enjoying a terrific run in its West Coast premiere: in the Bay Area, the Aurora Theatre Company's production has received accolades in the Examiner ("intense and engrossing"), the Chronicle ("incisive") and elsewhere. The run has already been extended through December 14. It is further proof that Fraser Grace's play remains trenchant and powerful. Please spread the word and help this play continue its remarkable journey.”

Kind regards,

Ezra Barnes

About the play:

Fraser Grace's Breakfast With Mugabe is inspired by reports that Zimbabwe’s despot Robert Mugabe sought treatment from a white psychiatrist. In playwright Fraser's Grace's imagining of these sessions, it is "colonialism that is put on the couch."

Breakfast With Mugabe was first produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and transferred to the West End. It received its New York premiere in 2013 in aTwo Planks Production . A critics pick with the New York Times and Time Out NY, it ran Off-Broadway for 100 performances, played to over 9,000 people and was nominated for Best New Play by the Off Broadway Alliance.
