Pleasant Valley Productions to present The Secret Garden

Secret Garden

The community theatre company of West Orange, Pleasant Valley Productions will be presenting The Secret Garden, from March 21-28 at the Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church in West Orange. The production is being directed by Camille Vecchio-DiLorenzo, with music direction by Ilene Greenbaum and produced by Howie Tilkin.

The Secret Garden is a gorgeous musical based on the classic children's novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett that tells a story of healing through belief and transformation through hope.

This enchanting classic of children's literature is reimagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman. Orphaned in India, 11 year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate's many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and the ‘Dreamers’, spirits from Mary's past who guide her through her new life, dramatizing The Secret Garden's compelling tale of forgiveness and renewal.

Over the past three years, Pleasant Valley Productions has presented a number of acclaimed community theatre shows in the area with productions of Songs for A New World, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream, a sold-out production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a glorious production of Ragtime, and most recently, Company at Luna Stage. Founded by DiLorenzo, Greenbaum, and Tilkin, the company’s mission is to create a professional theatre experience for local area performers, audience members, students and volunteers while providing a broad range of musical theatre works with the highest possible production value.

Performances of The Secret Garden will be presented Saturday, March 21 at 7pm, Sunday, March 22 at 3pm, Friday, March 27 at 7pm, and Saturday, March 28 at 2pm and 7pm. Performances will be at the Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church, located at 471 Pleasant Valley Way, West Orange, NJ 07052. For tickets and more information, visit
