‘Urinetown the Musical’ to Open at Playhouse 22

Tony Award Winning Satire Makes its East Brunswick Debut

Playhouse 22, East Brunswick’s Community Theater troupe, presents Urinetown the Musical, a musical comedy by Mark Hollmann with lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis.  The show will run June 12 – 28.

Winner of three Tony Awards and nominated for many Drama Desk Awards, the musical is a romp through the alleys of power, greed and rebellion during desperate times. Laced with biting satire, terrific songs, and scruffy dance numbers, Urinetown is a fable of absurd government regulation meeting rampant social irresponsibility – all in the spirit of affectionate sooth-saying for a troubled society.

The show is directed by Mark Kalet, with music direction by Chris Curcio and choreography by Jaime Moritz.

All performances are Friday evenings at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $22/adults and $20/seniors and students and can be purchased online at, by calling the Box Office at (732) 254-3939 or at the Box Office window.  Playhouse 22 is conveniently located at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center at 721 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.
