Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike Opens Friday, May 6th at CTG








The Chester Theatre Group presents, the Tony Award winning comedy, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike starting on Friday, May 6th and extending for eight shows through Sunday, May 22nd. Performances are Friday and Saturdays at 8 and Sundays at 2 pm. Tickets are $20.00 with a discounted price of $18.00 for seniors over 65 and students under 18. Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is the story of middle-aged siblings who share a home in Bucks County, PA, where they bicker and complain about the circumstances of their lives. Suddenly, their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up, eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on the scene are a sassy maid, who can predict the future, and a lovely young aspiring actress, whose prettiness somewhat worries the imperious, Masha.

Written by Christopher Durang, this hit comedy won the Tony Award for Best Play, when it starred Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce on Broadway, in 2013. Critics praised Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike as a humorous adaptation of Chekhov themes that doesn't require familiarity with Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike Opens Friday, May 6th at CTG

The talented cast of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike includes Leslie Gayle Williams in the role of Masha; J.M. Hogan of Flanders in the role of Spike; Michael King of New Providence in the role of Vanya; Tasha R Williams of Belleville in the role of Cassandra; Lauri MacMillan of Rockaway in the role of Sonia; and Jackie Jacobi of Edison in the role of Nina. The entire production is directed by Chase Newhart.


The Chester Theatre Group performs in The Black River Playhbouse, an intimate, 100-seat theater in the heart of Chester Borough’s historic district. The venue’s in-the-round format ensures that every seat offers an engaging, memorable experience for each audience member. The theater is located on the corner of Grove Street and Maple Avenue.
