MAPLEWOOD, N.J. – June 6, 2016 - Theatrical licensor Miracle or Two Productions has secured licensing rights to the critically acclaimed Off Broadway musical, RATED P … FOR PARENTHOOD originally developed with Midtown Direct Rep.

Since the 2012 closing of the Westside Theatre production of RATED P, the rights to the musical have been held under an option agreement with ABC-Studios, while the studio sought to develop RATED P into a 30-minute musical sitcom with Kelly Ripa and Mark Conseulos’ production company, Milojo. The pilot episode, ordered by ABC Family, remains ABC Studio property, however the rights to the musical, recently returned to authors Sandy Rustin (Book & Lyrics) and Dan Lipton & David Rossmer (Music & Lyrics).

Book writer & lyricist, Sandy Rustin said, “While of course we hope to one day see RATED P flourish on television, for now we are thrilled to be able to reintroduce the musical to theatre audiences everywhere.”

The rights to the cast album have also been released back to the authors. The Rated P cast album, featuring Courtney Balan, David Josefsberg, David Rossmer, and Joanna Young, is now released to the public worldwide on CD BABY.

“RATED P is a show for parents … or anyone who’s ever had them,” said Miracle or Two’s Co-Executive Director, Ray Roderick. “We look forward to building on Rated P’s success by bringing the musical to a wide audience of regional theatres, community theatres, colleges and high schools across the country. RATED P’s themes are universal and we know the show’s hilarious and heartfelt message will resonate with audiences everywhere.”

RATED P chronicles every stage of modern-day parenting, from conception to college, with giant doses of heart and humor. A versatile cast of four takes the audience through the ups and downs of childrearing—from the sublime to the ridiculous—in a series of comic and musical vignettes. Hilarious, fresh, and decidedly irreverent, “RATED P [is an] audience-friendly, Off Broadway revue with an eye to sit-down engagements across the land — One can imagine regional theaters full of audiences screaming with laughter.” -VARIETY
