Dreamcatcher Brings The Neighborhood to the Livingston Library

Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre, a professional theatre located in Summit, NJ, will bring a concert reading of their original musical, The Neighborhood, to the Livingston Library on Sunday, December 11 at 3:00 pm. The production, with book and lyrics by Artistic Director Laura Ekstrand and music by Joseph Zawila, was created from the stories of Dreamcatcher’s Resident Acting Company, and takes a loving and sometimes hilarious look at the way we live among the people around us who are not quite strangers, but also not quite friends.

This frank and funny collection of vignettes, monologues and songs will strike a chord with everyone who has wondered how much we really know about our neighbors, and how much we really want to know about them. These are the people we see every day on the train while commuting to work, the people next door whose dog drives us crazy, the people we wave at from a distance, and the people who cross the line from neighbor to friend by allowing us into their lives when it matters most.

When the play was produced in 2012, Ruth Ross at wrote, “It is a delight to visit and meet the denizens who populate this fictional place!” The Dreamcatcher company has been praised often for the ensemble nature of their work. Dreamcatcher’s production of The Neighborhood features Resident Acting Company members Clark Carmichael (Montclair), Harry Patrick Christian (Montclair), Laura Ekstrand (Livingston), Scott McGowan (Maplewood), Jason Szamreta (Rahway) and Harriett Trangucci (Summit). Also appearing are Angela Della Ventura (Watchung) and Stephanie Windland (New York).

The performance will be at the Livingston Library, 10 Robert Harp Drive, Livingston, NJ. Parking is available in the adjacent parking lot, and the facility is wheelchair accessible. The program is free of charge, and no reservations are necessary.
