Auditions: 'The King And I' at Brundage Park Playhouse

Performance Dates:  April 21, 22, 28, 29 May 5, 6 at 8:00 April 23, 30 and May 7 at 2:00 pm
All auditions are at the Brundage Park Playhouse on Carrell Road, Randolph, NJ 07869. GPS: 2 Bungalow Lane, Randolph 07869.
All Auditioners should be prepared to sing and read from sides, provide a headshot and resume if available. Photos will be taken at the audition for those performers without headshots. All auditioners must be available for rehearsals during tech week, and for all performance dates.

In this beloved musical from Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, the newly widowed Anna Leonowens travels to Bangkok with her son Louis to become the schoolteacher in the employ of the King of Siam in 1860. Although the king wishes to be seen as a modern king, the ensuing conflict of wills yields tragic consequences that neither Anna nor the king foresee.

Prince Chulalongkom: Heir to the throne of Siam, wary of Western customs.

The Kralahome: Prime Minister to King, Strong traditionalist. Spoken. No singing required.
Adult age 21 to 45
Louis Leonowens: Son of Anna, age 11 to 14 Well-behaved, yet intimidated by situation. Counter-tenor B4, G3
Captain Orton: Supporting role, spoken. No singing required.
Sir Edward Ramsay: English Statesman visiting friend of the King. Supporting role, spoken. No singing required.
Lun Tha: Burmese scholar, Supporting role. Tenor G4, C3
Tuptim: Burmese “gift” to the King, in love with Lun Tha. Soprano G5, C4 (middle c)
The Interpreter: Male, featured. Spoken, no singing required.
Phra Alak: Secretary and chief footman to King. Male, featured, Spoken.
Princess Ying Yaowalak: Charming, adorable young daughter of the King, featured.
Royal children: Either Gender. Ensemble. Some dancing. Age 10 to 12
Wives: Ensemble. Strong dancing
Ensemble: both male and female.

Brundage Park Playhouse has moved to an online ticket purchasing system. Tickets can be purchased online at Randolph Community Pass.  Ticket prices are $25 for adults and $20 for seniors, children under 12, and military personnel.  All seats are general admission and there is no assigned seating.   Each patron must have a ticket.  Children sitting on parents laps must have a ticket and no babes in arms.
