Audition: Open Call for ‘Doodle – All American Sing Along’


Center Players, Freehold’s resident theater company, will be holding open auditions for its “Signature Series” presentation of “Doodle – All American Sing Along,” to be directed by Leslie Hochman.  It will be presented 6/16-6/26/17 at Center Playhouse, located at 35 South Street in downtown Freehold.

WHERE:                   Center Playhouse, 35 South Street, Freehold, NJ.

WHEN:                     6/16 – 6/26/17

                                 six performances, Fri & Sat at 8PM and Sun at 2PM

AUDITION DATES: Sun. May 8th 7-9pm

Mon. May 9th 7-9pm


PREPARE:               16 bars of uptempo song; bring sheet music

    Sides from show will be available


Headshot and resume if available.


Doodle Dandy *- Boy or girl- Age range- 9 to 14 years old. Must sing and tap dance

Violet Dandy- Doodle’s Mother - Age range- 25 to 40 years old

Prof. Griffin Neidenheimer- Highly intelligent gentleman - Age range- 25-40 years old

Elliot- The American Bald Eagle

Mayor Arnold Schwartz- The loud mouth politician- Age range- 40 +

Deputy Mayor Sheldon Nagle- Mayors sidekick- Age range - 30 +

Althea Snutkins - Wealthy member of the town council

Foreign exchange student- Age range- 9 to 20 years old

Stanley- The town jokester

Possible small ensemble - All ages

All cast members must sing with limited dancing


"Doodle" is the story of the town of Dependence which is planning their annual 4th of July celebration. It seems that all the citizens are concerned about is having a good time and having a day off. Doodle Dandy feels that they have forgotten the real meaning of the holiday. With the help of Elliot, the bald headed eagle, and a special friend from a foreign land, the town of Dependence is shown the true meaning of the holiday.
