VIOLET opens at The Summit Playhouse May 5

violetVIOLET opens at The Summit Playhouse tomorrow May 5
The Summit Playhouse will present the award-winning musical “Violet”  with performances on May 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 8:00 PM and matinee performances May 7 and 14 at 2:00 PM.

Recently revived on Broadway starring Sutton Foster, “Violet” features Jeanine Tesori’s (Fun Home, Shrek, Thoroughly Modern Millie) score of show-stopping anthems ranging from American roots to folk to gospel. “Violet” tells the story of a young woman’s quest for beauty amidst the image-obsessed landscape of the 1960s. Facially disfigured in a childhood accident, Violet dreams of a miraculous transformation through the power of faith. Convinced that a televangelist in Oklahoma can heal her, she hops a Greyhound bus and starts the journey of a lifetime across the Deep South. Along the way she forms unlikely friendships with her fellow riders who teach her about beauty, love, courage and how to overcome the scars that lie beneath our skin.
