Smokey Joe’s Café at Somerset Valley this week

Hillsborough, NJ – The next production of the Somerset Valley Players, Hillsborough’s award-winning, nonprofit community theatre, is the musicalSmokey Joe’s Café – The Songs of Leiber and Stoller, opening on Friday, September 7.
Directed and choreographed by Genevieve Estanislau, Smokey Joe’s Café is a musical celebration of two of rock ‘n rolls pioneering songwriters, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. They composed classic hits for Elvis Presley, the Drifters, The Coasters and Ben E. King, among others. Inducted into the Songwriter’s and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, Leiber and Stoller’s catalog of songs includes Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, On Broadway, Spanish Harlem, and Stand By Me. 
Produced by Todd R. Bennington, the musical director is Anthony “Coop” Competello, and the stage manager is Robert Langer.
Smokey Joe’s Café runs September 7-23 at the Somerset Valley Players theater on 689 Amwell Road (Rout 514) in Hillsborough. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m.  Sunday matinees start at 2 p.m. The theater is air conditioned, barrier free and wheelchair accessible.
